What I'm reading right now is: Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys. The author is such an unapologetic poet, which I love. I can't wait to read her other works. From what I understand, her pieces all spotlight the same devastatingly nomadic heroine, though by a different name and in a different place.

So I think I'm turning into a feminist.
The more I learn about the world, the more out of focus reality seems.
It's a blur.
And I can't understand why women don't stand up for themselves.
When people hear 'feminist' or even 'female empowerment' I think they assume that someone's there to hear the cry of women domestically violated.
But what about the ones who are living the Disney lie: that a man should come sweep them off of their feet and validate them for the rest of society, and then for eternity?
What makes you so afraid?
Afraid to seize the world around you.
If you can carry another for nine months straight then surely, on your own, you can get by.

I'd like to blame 1950s husbands.... but I can't.

Two orange things that I forgot I loved.

Exhibit A: This Balenciaga ad from SS08 featuring Jen Connelly. Love it.
Exhibit B: CG Lashblast Mascara. This one actually works! I keep mascaras for a month and then toss them, for fear of bacteria build up. Now I'm wondering why I never bought it again.
