Up-n-Comin'...

There's a fine line between being a fashion designer and a fashion visionary. Jasmine di Milo's Srping '09 RTW line proves that she has a vision. She's designed galmorous get-up-and-go pieces with a woman's silhouette in mind.
Oh how I long for that gold mini dress in the last photo above...

Drugstore Find #1

What good is California sunshine without glowing skin to match?
Product: Pears Soap aka 'The Original Transparent Soap'
Trial Period: about a month
Rating: 5/5!
Review:
Consider this mixture: old broccoli with a little cough syrup and peppermint. That's what Pears Soap smells like. Aside from the not-so-glamorous smell, this has been one of the best gentle soaps on the market for decades (Since the 1800s). As a facial cleanser, its non-comedogenic benefits are plentiful. The smooth soap suds work quickly to strip the skin of oils and daily buildup. But not to worry. The stripped feeling is easily combated with a heavy duty moisturizer. After a couple of weeks of consistent use, my blackhead-prone skin is even and under cntrol. Usually visible pores are forgotten, makeup comes off with less effort, and, still, I can claim the glow!

Red Alert... almsot Halloween

I realize that this is a scary Olsen pic (olsen-files.com). But right now I am loving lip stains! As a child my mother would never let me wear red lipstick or red nail polish. She said those were reserved for "women of the night". I think of her everytime I pop open my tube and I proceed to apply generously. I generally wear it in the daytime (weird, right?) so that I can play up my eyes and wear a nudie lip color at night. Too much fun!

Shades I'm rotating: MAC Lady Danger (Blood Red Lipstick), MAC Russian Red (True Red Lipgloss), and Revlon Air Kiss (Hot Pinkish-Red Lipstick).

Some background for today:

  • Boyfriend is out of town
  • I saw these brown booties (see pic above) on ebay and I'm bidding
  • It's midterms week
  • I have yet to see fall weather yet (its 94 degrees out).

I can't tell you how many dreams I've had about the above Vogue cover. It speaks to me! I've heard people say that the 90's was a decade that lacked character (compared to the 1920's or 1960's). I beg to differ. The 1990's was an unassuming, calm-before-the-storm time, which is precisely what this Vogue cover conveys. Featured Models (l-r): Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Tatjana Patitz, Christy Turlington, and Cindy Crawford.

Capsule

I'd like to start this big blog meal off by noting that I am learning myself and learning beauty a day at a time. Can you think of a better way to live? I expect (and hope) that when I look back at the Notepad, I'll see the likes of my untainted eye. Too bad we can't all be so lucky :-)
